THANK YOU, MR. FLOYD

November 25 marked six months since George Floyd was murdered by a Minneapolis police officer.

The next day, November 26, Americans celebrated Thanksgiving.

Here are a few things we can all  be thankful for – attributable at least in part to the life and death of Mr. George Floyd, God rest his soul.

  • A global uprising to end racism.
  • Urgent demands to redress the tragic legacies of slavery, colonialism and patriarchy.
  • Massive voter turn-out in November’s US Presidential Election, resulting in a new Administration that says it has Black Americans’ back and whose Vice President is a Black woman.
  • A long overdue focus on literature, film, fashion, performing arts, and art of all kinds from artists from underrepresented groups.
  • New investment and support for businesses and entrepreneurs from racialized communities.
  • Action from corporations, governments and organizations around the world to pursue diversity, inclusion and overall social performance on an accelerated basis.

It feels like there’s a global up-leveling going on, doesn’t it? Thankfully.
